"Momentous Minimalism: A Day of Light Eating"

Mar 14, 2024 - 6:41am

Yesterday, my food intake was minimal: I started with a breakfast burrito from Roberto's in OB and then just snacked for the rest of the day.

"Sunset Cliffs Surf: Stoked for Epic Waves"

Mar 13, 2024 - 8:39am

Surfff

I just had an amazing surf session at Sunset Cliffs with really solid-sized waves ranging from four to eight feet. The conditions were pretty good, though the sets were inconsistent. When they did come, the waves were great. I spent an enjoyable hour and a half on my longboard and I'm glad I pushed myself to get out of bed and make it to the beach. Totally worth it and I'm feeling stoked. Planning to relax tomorrow, not sure about Friday, but Saturday is definitely going to be epic. I'm pumped for it.

"Meditative Prep for Container Deployment Efficiency"

Mar 12, 2024 - 9:04pm

Meditation

I'm starting a 15-minute meditation before diving into my project tasks. My goal is to simplify the deployment of containers on our own hardware, making it more efficient to manage resources without external assistance. The tasks ahead include publishing a Docker image, adding backup functionalities to my API, incorporating speech capabilities into a library, and crafting the API to be serverless. Furthermore, I plan to utilize Cloudflare's key-value store and repeatedly summon "Hano" for reasons unspecified, concluding my note with gratitude.

"An Energetic Day of Milestones and Culinary Delights"

Mar 12, 2024 - 8:12pm

Today was an incredibly energetic and successful day for me. I maintained high energy levels throughout, even though I experienced a slight dip in the afternoon. The highlight was bringing the Mac mini network to life, which now runs a real machine learning model on commodity hardware capable of serving a production-grade API. This milestone makes me extremely excited and marks a significant achievement in the stability and capability of our API. Additionally, I cooked a delicious spinach, garlic, and butter pasta for lunch, with plenty left over for future meals. I also have enough chicken and couscous for another meal, ensuring a tasty week ahead. In the evening, I enjoyed outdoor activities, including riding my bike and slacklining with my friend Ryan in the park. Following this, I had a productive call with Dave and concluded my day with a simple dinner. As the day comes to an end, I plan to meditate and sort out my climbing gear, though I might skip showering since I'll be surfing tomorrow. A bit of kitchen cleanup is also on my to-do list, but overall, I feel immensely satisfied with how the day unfolded. Now, it's time to wind down, embrace the feeling of tiredness, and allow myself to take a much-deserved break.

"Slacklining Serenity"

Photo of Ryan having fun on the line today

Ryan is enjoying his time balancing on a slackline stretched between two points in a vibrant, grassy park. The scene depicts a clear sky with a few scattered clouds and a rich variety of trees in the background, adding to the serene atmosphere. There's a small figure in the distance, which appears to be another person in the park, potentially spectating or engaged in their activity. Cars are visible parked along the road, which borders the park area.

Productive Day

Mar 11, 2024 - 11:24pm

Today was truly great. After work, I dived into some exciting deployment projects that I'm keen to test more tomorrow. It's fulfilling to see tangible progress. I also had a wonderful time catching up with Jano; we grabbed a delicious lunch from a Cantonese restaurant near his place - roast duck, fried rice, and string beans. It's always great hanging out with him and I'm looking forward to more. After lunch, I spent time playing with Kenneth and seeing Alexa, making for a pleasant afternoon. Returning home, I resumed work, eager to continue testing and improving what I've been working on, despite the small cost to keep things running. For dinner, I enjoyed some leftovers and planned to cook something nice tomorrow. The morning began with parantas, and the day also included a good call with Austin. It was a productive day, managing about five and a half hours of focused work, with additional calls adding up to an eight-hour day. I'm hopeful for an early start tomorrow, aiming for another fruitful day.

"Blooming Journey: The Lifecycle of Leafy Greens"

City Heights - San Diego, California, USA

Mar 11, 2024 - 9:22am

More or less same status as last week. Lots of bolting occurring, on the Amara greens and bok Choi. Bok Choi is probably on its last legs. Everything else is solid!!

The view depicts a raised garden bed sectioned into squares, with various plants exhibiting signs of growth and maturation. Notable is the dominance of leafy greens, some of which show signs of bolting, characterized by elongated stems and flowering heads, particularly evident in the Amara greens and bok choy. The bok choy appears to be withering or near the end of its life cycle. Amongst the assortment, other plants remain robust and healthy. The bed itself is bordered by light-colored wood, with an adjacent drip irrigation system visible. The ground beneath the bed is comprised of a brick-like surface.

"Connection, Impact, and Motivation"

Mar 10, 2024 - 8:14pm

Today, I had a delightful hour-long chat with Alex, catching up on things, which I found really nice. I'm looking forward to recording this in a private journal. Additionally, I shared an app link with Darren, and he's already described it as life-changing. His feedback made me incredibly happy, knowing something I created in just a few hours could have such a significant impact on him. This success feels deeply meaningful, yet I believe the app can be greatly improved. Despite its current success, I'm motivated to enhance it further for Darren.

Culinary Diary

Mar 10, 2024 - 8:13pm

Today, for breakfast, I indulged in two aloo parathas along with eggs and pickled onions, courtesy of Kim and Jordan. My lunch was rather light, consisting mainly of snacks. Dinner was an enjoyable affair with garlic chicken paired with leftover couscous and salad, with the arugula salad turning out exceptionally well. I noted the dish could benefit from a bit more acidity, perhaps with the addition of tomatoes, but even without, it was phenomenal. It’s a meal I’d consider serving on a date. I’m planning to record another one because it’s just that great. Thank you.

Fireside Garlic Miso Chicken with Arugula Salad and Couscous

City Heights - San Diego, California, USA

Mar 10, 2024 - 7:31pm

The fire garlic miso chicken, with arugula salad leftovers and couscous

A plate of food featuring fire garlic miso chicken, a light brown piece of chicken seasoned with visible spices, accompanied by a fluffy bed of pale yellow couscous, and a side of arugula salad dressed and mixed with what appears to be pieces of parmesan cheese, adding hints of white to the green leaves. The food is presented on a round white plate, resting on a wooden table. A fork is placed to the right of the chicken, partially resting on the couscous. The plate offers a wholesome and nutritious meal with a balance of protein, grains, and greens.
