"Whisper Bindings, Sausage Surprises, and Culinary Contemplations in Python"

Mar 26, 2024 - 9:34pmSummary: Today, I spent a good chunk of my time wrestling with whisper bindings for Python, making decent progress despite the challenge. My day's culinary highlight was making red beans with a special chicken hatch chili sausage from a local farm, which tasted okay but probably wasn't the best use for such a flavorful sausage. Despite missing other meals, this was a solid attempt, though I pondered if a different type of sausage might have been better and considered altering the cooking technique for added flavor. Additionally, I ventured out for some physical activity, which included biking and slack-lining, where I met up with Edgar, Ryan, and Julian. Julian, in particular, impressed me with his passion for highlining, a fervor so contagious it made the encounter especially enjoyable. With my departure approaching in a couple of days, I'm contemplating creative ways to use up the fresh tomatoes and assortment of potatoes I have at home. My aim is to find interesting culinary uses for them to ensure they don't go to waste.

Transcript: quick little audio journal for the day. Just fighting whisper bindings for Python all day. Making some progress. And I guess the more nice thing of the day was making food. I didn't really have lunch. I just snacked. I didn't have breakfast. I kind of didn't eat anything. And then for dinner, I made, well, around lunchtime, I made red beans with the sausage from Cecil's or Iowa Farms here near me. And that sausage, I had it yesterday, and it was absolutely delicious. I had it for lunch and dinner yesterday, and it was amazing. It's this chicken hatch chili sausage. Today, it went in the beans, and it was all right. You know, I think there's probably a better way to utilize that sausage. But regardless, still good. I think, like, probably a much cheaper, more potent sausage here probably would have actually been a little bit better. That's kind of my guess. But overall, solid. I mean, maybe not even cheaper. Maybe just a different kind of sausage. And I would probably cut it a little differently just to get that extra browning. But I biked over and slack-lined, and I met Edgar today. Ryan was there. Yeah. And? And, um... What's his name? Julian was also there. And it was cool to see Julian. I hadn't seen him in a long time. And he clearly has been highlining. He's so stoked. His stoke for highlining is, like, so ridiculously high. It's super cool, though. It's fun to be around him. And with so much stoke. But, yeah, that's kind of what's going on. I need to figure out what I'm doing with these tomatoes that I have. They look delicious. And I want to do something interesting with them. They are, like, these perfect vine-ripe tomatoes. I have tiny potatoes. And I have a sweet potato, too. So, lots of food. And only a couple days before I leave. So, we've got to figure that out.

Today's been a good day overall. It's now 6:30 PM, and I'm set to make dinner, having skipped lunch and snacked on peanut butter pretzels from Costco instead. Workwise, I managed to organize all my projects, using Basecamp as a tool, though I'm still assessing its effectiveness for my needs. I also progressed with Darren's app to a new version and developed a bit more of a dashboard for a wedding project with John, despite its uncertain future. The planning aspect of my work gives me the most satisfaction. Tomorrow, I'm eager to dive into the "Burrito" project, exploring Jordan's design and considering which modules to add. I'll experiment with labeling features in private mode to see if they add value. Although labeling everything is cumbersome, it could ultimately be worthwhile. I spent about four hours on computer and programming tasks, which felt okay but somewhat less than ideal. Tonight, I plan to relax, cook steak and a salad for dinner, possibly adding an egg cooked in the steak juices. After an enjoyable bike ride post-call with John, I'm winding down from what I consider a pretty solid day.

Today was eventful with a pleasant dinner party I hosted for Caroline, Patrick, and Kyle, reuniting this group for the first time in two years. The evening was filled with meaningful conversations, vulnerability, and appreciation for the company. I also visited Nick to help with their business spreadsheets, exploring potential additional income. Tomorrow's plans include a bike ride to Mnemonic to spend time writing and reflecting on recent discussions, fueled by energy and an espresso.

I had a rejuvenating afternoon filled with enjoyable activities and conversations, including a chat with Jamie, a nice talk with John, and catching up with Jono over tea since his return from New Zealand. I also made myself a sandwich, went for a bike ride, and I am looking forward to a homemade dinner of salmon, kale, and rice. It's 7:30 now, and after dinner, I plan to take some time for separate notes regarding calls and such. Today was simply a great day.

Yesterday was an amazing day for me. I spent the morning making samosas with Jono, which was a great experience, especially learning to deep fry for the first time. We tried various fillings, including lamb and potato, and made our own tamarind and mint chutneys. Though we realized we could improve the fillings, the process was enjoyable, and sharing fresh young coconut with Jono was the highlight of my day. The joy of that simple moment was unparalleled. Later, I had a brief chat with Josie, cleaned up, and headed to Juggling Club on my bike. There, I caught up with friends, Edgar, Jack, and met someone new, possibly named Matt or Mike. Ray joined us too, and catching up with him was so nice that I invited him over for dinner. We spent about five or six hours just talking. For dinner, I made garlic chicken and a kale salad with feta, bell pepper, and a lemon Dijon olive oil vinaigrette with a hint of dill, which turned out pleasantly. Overall, the day left me feeling grateful for the shared experiences and simple joys.
