Traveling Treat: My In-N-Out Experience

Mar 18, 2024 - 5:21pm

Yesterday, I had In-N-Out for dinner. It was okay, but there was a really long wait, which I suppose is typical when you're traveling.

"Garden Greens: A Tranquil Moment"

City Heights - San Diego, California, USA

Mar 18, 2024 - 5:20pm

Garden update

A raised garden bed filled with an array of plants, including a large, dark green kale plant on the left, what appears to be a patch of green lettuce in the center, a compact rosette of green leaves resembling cabbage or bok choy front and center, and a collection of purple-tinged leaves that could be red kale or red lettuce on the right. The bed is constructed with wooden boards, and an irrigation hose is visible along the edge. A person's feet wearing gray and blue socks are visible at the bottom in the photo, standing on the wooden edge of the bed, suggesting the person is looking down at the garden.

"Starting a 15-Minute Meditation"

This is me beginning a 15-minute meditation. Thank you. Thank you.

"Inspired Pursuits: Daily Meditation and Rigging Setup Expansion"

Mar 17, 2024 - 6:31pm

I've noted down several things recently, including the need to follow through on some actions. One highlight was hearing about Daniel's daily meditation practice, which he finds transformative. Inspired, I'm keen to start meditating daily to see its effects for myself, starting tomorrow and continuing throughout the week. Additionally, the weekend spurred my interest in expanding my rigging setup. Although my current 60-meter rig is satisfactory, the potential to extend it to 120 meters intrigues me. I'm considering acquiring additional gear to possibly extend my setup to 130 or 135 meters. Looking forward to seeing how both these endeavors pan out. Bye.

"Highlining Triumphs: A Day of Progress and Good Company"

Mar 17, 2024 - 6:27pm

I had an amazing day highlining today. Woke up early, and Jim encouraged me to go first on the line. Managed to take eight steps, which I'm pretty stoked about, though I always wish I could do more. It feels incredible to make progress and identify areas for improvement. One key takeaway is needing to stand straighter and address my tendency to fall to the left. Breakfast was a Starbucks sandwich and some oatmeal by my car, and lunch was just Clif Bars, with dinner still undecided. The highlight was getting on the freestyle line and achieving 10 steps despite the challenge. I haven't checked the videos yet but am looking forward to seeing them. It was also great to catch up with my friend Ray and appreciate Jim's support. There was a solid presence of friends, including Courtney, Kristen, Dane, Juan, Rudy, Jessa, and Daniel, whom I initially met in Joshua Tree. Overall, it was a fantastic day, filled with learning, progression, and good company.

"An Eventful Day on High Line"

Mar 16, 2024 - 9:41pm

Had an eventful day today. Started early and went to High Line to set up and walk the high lines. It was challenging due to the wind, and although I didn't make much progress walking the line, I'm still thrilled about the attempt. The day was long and left me exhausted. For meals, I had pasta for lunch and regretfully ended up eating at Chick-fil-A for dinner, which I promised myself to avoid due to its cost and quality. Skipped breakfast, and now I'm ready to sleep. Overall, I'm satisfied yet tired, and definitely need better food choices. Thanks for the support!

Eagle Eye: A Mountain Climber's Perspective

Ventura County - California, USA

Mar 16, 2024 - 3:16pm

Me riding the wind

A collection of rock climbing equipment is arranged on a flat rock surface with a stunning mountainous landscape in the background. The equipment includes carabiners, slings, and other climbing hardware, suggesting preparation for a climb or the conclusion of one. A climbing rope extends from the gear, reaching towards another rocky outcrop in the distance. The landscape features rolling hills with sparse vegetation under a clear blue sky dotted with a few wispy clouds.

"Skyline Slackline: Jim's Daring Highwire Journey"

Ventura County - California, USA

Mar 16, 2024 - 11:54am

Jim walking over the city, sending the new 180m

A person is walking on a slackline stretched between two rocky outcrops high above a sprawling cityscape. In the background, a mountain range looms under a cloudy sky. On the left side, a couple of individuals stand atop one of the outcrops, possibly securing or observing the slackliner. The vast urban area extends into the horizon with visible residential and commercial structures.

"Enhancing API Performance and Quality Amidst Unexpected Challenges"

Mar 15, 2024 - 10:44pm

I had a really nice day focused on improving and optimizing our API, dealing with various issues along the way. I managed to create and deploy Docker images, enhancing the overall performance and deployability of our system, which I'm quite excited and satisfied with. Despite it taking more time than anticipated and pushing back other projects, I'm optimistic about continuing this work. Additionally, I spent quality time with friends, preparing and enjoying meals together, which was a warming end to the day. Although feeling slightly under the weather, I'm hopeful for tomorrow and plan an early start for a highlining adventure, pending how I feel in the morning.

"Exploring API Optimization and Mac Mini Networks: A Productive Day"

Mar 14, 2024 - 9:58pm

Today was another productive day. As I engage more in real-world tasks, my enthusiasm for API work, especially in reducing text-to-speech latency, grows. It's a fascinating project, and there's potential to make something genuinely beneficial. Financially, using Mac mini networks could bring in a considerable sum given the low compute costs. However, everything is still in the exploration phase, including plans to increase our capacity with an additional computer. I didn't get outside much today, missing out on slacklining, but had dinner with friends at La Vie en Rose, which was enjoyable. My meals throughout the day were simple, starting with eggs for breakfast. Looking forward, I'm eager to dive into work tomorrow, aiming to have the production API up and running by the afternoon. Managing concurrency and integrating services like fly.io are on the agenda to improve and simplify the API. Cleaning up the code and deploying a refined Docker image are also priorities to enhance the system's efficiency and functionality. It's an ongoing process, but I'm optimistic about the progress.
