"The Evolving Landscape of Advertising: A Moment of Reflection"

Feb 13, 2024 - 10:22am

ar space

A screenshot of a conversation from a messaging app is shown with two text bubbles. The first, larger bubble is filled with light text and contains a message expressing a realization about the possibility of selling physical or digital space, and the fact that you don't have to build a billboard anymore, but still could if you owned the land. The second, smaller bubble with a single word in light text, acknowledges this statement as 'Weird.' The background of the screenshot is a dark color, and the text bubbles are colored differently to represent the two participants in the conversation.

"Digital Detox: A Week Without YouTube, Reddit, and Twitter"

Feb 13, 2024 - 9:54am

No YouTube, Reddit, Twitter

The individual aims to abstain from watching YouTube and browsing Reddit (except for the r/local llama subreddit) as well as not using Twitter for the remainder of the week, including the weekend. They would appreciate being held accountable for their goal. They specifically mention that they would like Bob the Burrito to check in with them at a random future time to see how well they're adhering to this plan.

"Morning Catch-up at Bird Rock"

Feb 13, 2024 - 8:40am

Morning with chandler

I spent a pleasant morning with Chandler, skipping surfing at Del Mar due to poor waves and opting to relax and catch up at Bird Rock instead. Over coffee and a croissant, we discussed my work and its effects on my mood, as well as his life and thoughts. It was a delightful time that included giving him a sweatshirt he was excited about. We're looking forward to a potential surf session later in the week, rounding off a truly nice morning.

Navigating the Highlining Access Debate

Feb 12, 2024 - 7:42pm

Highline access

The battle for access to highlining spots is becoming a concern within the community, with some preferring to keep these locations private to enjoy their sport without interference. However, there's a need to address the issue smartly, considering that increased awareness could lead to more frequent shutdowns. Ongoing discussions with key access advocates, such as Jim, Kat, and Ray, aim to facilitate access while educating land managers on the activity and mitigating their concerns. The ultimate goal is not to restrict highliners but to ensure responsible and beneficial use of these areas for all parties involved.

"Update on the Garden Harvest"

Feb 12, 2024 - 12:54pm

Garden update

The potatoes in the garden are growing nicely despite being very young. Kale has been partly consumed, with enough remaining for occasional meals, while Bok choy needs to be eaten soon. Romaine lettuce is prospering and there is still plenty left despite consumption last week, and the broccolini is flowering and should be used soon, possibly in a stir fry. Unfortunately, the Brussel sprouts plant will not yield produce and the spinach seeds have not shown any growth yet.

"Bizarre Encounter: The Mystery of the Vietnamese Passenger"

Despite the language barrier and driving in circles, the man handed the speaker money, totaling $230, but the speaker only accepted $30. In exchange, the man took the speaker's sunglasses, resulting in a bizarre trade. Attempts to communicate via Google Translate were unsuccessful, adding to the speaker's frustration and bewilderment over the entire situation.
