Comment: … what

Transcript: Some crazy shit just happened. I don't even know, like, what to say. I was about to park in my house, and then this Vietnamese man, I assume him to be Vietnamese, doesn't speak a lick of English. He wants me to drive him somewhere, so I let him get in the car. And then we started driving, and then effectively we're just driving in circles. And he keeps handing me more money. He almost handed me $230. I was not going to take that $200 from him. I did take the $30, and then he took my sunglasses. So I guess, fair trade. Bro, like, what just happened? We're literally just driving around, and eventually he's just like, oh, go left here, go right there, go left here, go right there. I'm like, bro, what the fuck? Ah. I mean, I would just be in the car all day with this guy, with him not speaking any English. And I was just confused. And I don't know if he's a crazy person or what. It's just, yeah, a very, very confusing interaction. I tried to do Google Translate to no effect. He started wanting to speak English to it, which just doesn't help. Because I'm trying to translate his language into English. And he's just talking the whole time. I'm like, dude, I wish I could understand you. If I could understand you, I would help you. You're not giving me anything to work with. And this dude is like, 85. So strange. So strange. I'm a bit frustrated, but I'm also like, I just let a random guy into my car. So what do you expect?

While driving to Irvine, someone called our car a "toaster on wheels" and accused us of techno-fascism. The encounter was surprisingly pleasant; the man wasn't angry, just sharing his opinion, and we all ended up smiling. Despite not fully agreeing with him, I recognize that our world is far from perfect and can feel dystopian, especially within my field of work. However, I believe it's crucial to avoid authoritarianism and censorship by technology companies, and to strive for a more distributed platform for governance, in the spirit of what the Internet originally was.

The surfer had a somewhat disappointing day at Swami's, despite getting out early and having two boards with him. He decided to surf with the longboard and without a leash, which turned out to be a bad move as the surf was mixed up and not suitable for a longboard. He struggled to hold onto his board during a big set, losing it several times. He took some rough falls and learned the hard way that it was a mistake to go out without a leash. Despite the challenging conditions, he still considered it a decent day because any day that allows him to surf is a good day.
