"Productive Projects and Dinner Plans: A Day in the Life"

Mar 9, 2024 - 6:38pmSummary: Today's been a good day overall. It's now 6:30 PM, and I'm set to make dinner, having skipped lunch and snacked on peanut butter pretzels from Costco instead. Workwise, I managed to organize all my projects, using Basecamp as a tool, though I'm still assessing its effectiveness for my needs. I also progressed with Darren's app to a new version and developed a bit more of a dashboard for a wedding project with John, despite its uncertain future. The planning aspect of my work gives me the most satisfaction. Tomorrow, I'm eager to dive into the "Burrito" project, exploring Jordan's design and considering which modules to add. I'll experiment with labeling features in private mode to see if they add value. Although labeling everything is cumbersome, it could ultimately be worthwhile. I spent about four hours on computer and programming tasks, which felt okay but somewhat less than ideal. Tonight, I plan to relax, cook steak and a salad for dinner, possibly adding an egg cooked in the steak juices. After an enjoyable bike ride post-call with John, I'm winding down from what I consider a pretty solid day.

Transcript: So pretty good day so far, I think. It's 6.30. I'm going to make dinner now. I didn't really have lunch. I kind of just snacked throughout the day, mostly on those peanut butter pretzel things from Costco. But, yeah, I would say pretty solid day. Worked to get – well, I basically organized all of my projects more or less, and at least now I have one place where I can kind of keep track of them. I'm using Basecamp, and we'll see how it turns out. I'm not convinced that this is great for me, but it's a better surface than not having one. So we'll try it and see how it goes. And, yeah, that works, and we'll do that. But I also kind of worked on Darren's app. I got the next version going. And then I had a call with John, and we worked together and got a little bit more of a dashboard going for the wedding. But sounds like that might not happen. But regardless, like, a little bit more interface is nice. So I think overall pretty good. I feel solid about the planning mostly. I think that's what makes me feel the best. Tomorrow I'm basically, because I got these other things cleared, I'm ready to jump into the Burrito stuff and just see what we can do with Jordan's design. And then think about, I guess, the modules and kinds of things that we want to add. And just give it a try and see what it feels like, especially in the private mode. Being able to label these things and, like, is that useful enough? Is just being able to label shit. And then kind of what I'm trying to do. I'm trying to figure out what's going on. And then kind of what can you do as the second order after that's done. Obviously, labeling everything is like a total pain in the ass. But on the other hand, like, maybe it affords enough for the time being to make things useful. So that would be really, really cool. And yeah, I think that's great. And given all of that, I mean, all of that was four hours of work. And then kind of what can you do as the second order after that's done? Obviously, labeling everything is like a total pain in the ass. But on the other hand, like, maybe it affords enough for the time being to make things useful. And then kind of what can you do as the second order after that's done? And then kind of what can you do as the second order after that's done? All of that was four hours of being on the computer and programming. So, yeah, I feel okay about that. I think I probably want to do a bit more than that realistically. But it is 6:30. I am going to try to wind down tonight. We'll see how that happens. I'm going to cook dinner. I'm going to cook steak and make a salad for dinner. And probably also maybe have an egg over the salad just because that sounds... Yeah. Pretty delicious. And I'll probably cook the egg in like the steak juices or something like that, you know. Nothing like too crazy. Maybe cut up a shallot in there too. So that sounds all pretty nice. I went on a bike ride after John and I's call and that was absolutely wonderful. Man, just like biking around aimlessly, not really nowhere. I'm going and just making it happen I think was really, really nice. So, yeah, pretty solid day I'd say. I'd say. Bye. Bye. Thank you.

Productive Day and Tomorrow's Plans

Today was genuinely good. I enjoyed a brief outing, had a catching-up call with Katie, and worked on getting an app ready for Darren, which I'm hopeful he'll find useful. It's sparked a desire in me to develop a more robust infrastructure, something I see as entirely feasible. Planning for tomorrow, I want to integrate a design from Jordan into my work and, if possible, continue enhancing the app for Darren, focusing on stronger infrastructure and deploying it to a stable, cost-effective, or free hosting service, potentially something like serverless Postgres. Dinner was light, just almonds and some couscous, not quite a meal. After a productive day, I'm feeling pretty exhausted and foresee just watching a YouTube video before bed. I'm looking forward to driving up for coffee tomorrow morning, though I need to check my car's charge for the trip to Encinitas and also plan to do some grocery shopping. I aim to start the day early, enjoy an espresso, buy some beans, perhaps a pastry, and then see where the day takes me. I'm debating between taking my laptop and opting to journal instead, leaning towards the latter to give myself a chance to reflect and process my thoughts. So, that's the roundup of today and the look-ahead for tomorrow.

Today was an incredibly energetic and successful day for me. I maintained high energy levels throughout, even though I experienced a slight dip in the afternoon. The highlight was bringing the Mac mini network to life, which now runs a real machine learning model on commodity hardware capable of serving a production-grade API. This milestone makes me extremely excited and marks a significant achievement in the stability and capability of our API. Additionally, I cooked a delicious spinach, garlic, and butter pasta for lunch, with plenty left over for future meals. I also have enough chicken and couscous for another meal, ensuring a tasty week ahead. In the evening, I enjoyed outdoor activities, including riding my bike and slacklining with my friend Ryan in the park. Following this, I had a productive call with Dave and concluded my day with a simple dinner. As the day comes to an end, I plan to meditate and sort out my climbing gear, though I might skip showering since I'll be surfing tomorrow. A bit of kitchen cleanup is also on my to-do list, but overall, I feel immensely satisfied with how the day unfolded. Now, it's time to wind down, embrace the feeling of tiredness, and allow myself to take a much-deserved break.

I had a rejuvenating afternoon filled with enjoyable activities and conversations, including a chat with Jamie, a nice talk with John, and catching up with Jono over tea since his return from New Zealand. I also made myself a sandwich, went for a bike ride, and I am looking forward to a homemade dinner of salmon, kale, and rice. It's 7:30 now, and after dinner, I plan to take some time for separate notes regarding calls and such. Today was simply a great day.
