Comment: Evening brain dump
Transcript: So today was interesting. It was really good. I had another pastrami sandwich for lunch, similar to what I had the other day. And, um, I had a dinner party today and I hosted, um, Caroline, Patrick and Kyle. And yeah, really interesting. Like the, this group of people I don't think have been together in like probably two years. So, um, it was really, really cool to see everyone together. And I don't know, like they're all people that I really care about and appreciate in my life. So yeah, it was just a really wonderful night and it will be talked about so much and, uh, just so grateful for, yeah. So grateful for the evening and yeah, just getting to listen to what's going on in people's lives and what they're excited about and getting to share a little bit of about mine and also being vulnerable and, uh, yeah, just a lot of vulnerability is very nice tonight. Ah, just being people, being real. So good. So, so good. So yeah, that was, that was the day. And I, uh, went over to Nick's place to get a better understanding of what's going on with, you know, the spreadsheets and what they need for their business. And yeah. Um, just, yeah. I mean, just curious, like what's possible and what's doable and, you know, might be a little bit of extra income, which wouldn't be the worst thing. So, and, you know, again, talking about the intentional computer, um, made Kyle smile and, um, seems to resonate a lot. And some of the things that Jordan said, keep coming up and up and up and up and up and up and up. So clearly there is something there and probably that is worth writing down. Tomorrow. I don't really have any explicit plan for waking up or anything like that. Um, my only plan is to go to mnemonic tomorrow when it opens, I plan to ride my bike there and just bring a notebook or two, bring my two notebooks, um, and maybe my iPad, no computer, and just spend some time writing and maybe bring a book and just enjoy, um, enjoy the time there and join Espresso and yeah. That's kind of more or less the plan. And I think a lot of it is going to just have to be around writing and writing about the things that I've been talking about with, with people the last couple of days and, um, the energy and rejuvenation in some way that it's brought. And that the intention stuff really resonates and the stuff with Jono, um, the garden specifically resonates a ton. So there's obviously something there and I also want to get it into his hands literally just for that single purpose and seeing how we can connect our gardens and make that, make that work, you know, um, that would be really cool.
I had a rejuvenating afternoon filled with enjoyable activities and conversations, including a chat with Jamie, a nice talk with John, and catching up with Jono over tea since his return from New Zealand. I also made myself a sandwich, went for a bike ride, and I am looking forward to a homemade dinner of salmon, kale, and rice. It's 7:30 now, and after dinner, I plan to take some time for separate notes regarding calls and such. Today was simply a great day.

Today was genuinely good. I enjoyed a brief outing, had a catching-up call with Katie, and worked on getting an app ready for Darren, which I'm hopeful he'll find useful. It's sparked a desire in me to develop a more robust infrastructure, something I see as entirely feasible. Planning for tomorrow, I want to integrate a design from Jordan into my work and, if possible, continue enhancing the app for Darren, focusing on stronger infrastructure and deploying it to a stable, cost-effective, or free hosting service, potentially something like serverless Postgres. Dinner was light, just almonds and some couscous, not quite a meal. After a productive day, I'm feeling pretty exhausted and foresee just watching a YouTube video before bed. I'm looking forward to driving up for coffee tomorrow morning, though I need to check my car's charge for the trip to Encinitas and also plan to do some grocery shopping. I aim to start the day early, enjoy an espresso, buy some beans, perhaps a pastry, and then see where the day takes me. I'm debating between taking my laptop and opting to journal instead, leaning towards the latter to give myself a chance to reflect and process my thoughts. So, that's the roundup of today and the look-ahead for tomorrow.
I had a pleasant dinner with my friend Kyle, although the Greek food at Hummus was greasy and not remarkable. Afterward, we walked to the beach, encountered an amazing drum circle, and discussed my work, which Kyle expressed an interest in trying, making me feel supported. Kyle imparted some wisdom, suggesting that sharing one's creations with others is the antidote to ego, which resonated with me and encouraged me to share my work. Along with this heartening experience, I enjoyed a simple, refreshing walk by myself earlier in the day, realizing that sometimes a walk is all I need rather than a nap.
I had an energetic afternoon which started with a bike ride to an unnamed café near the university for espresso. Spending time mostly outdoors, I worked with two notebooks and my iPad, realizing that the lack of a traditional computer and a change of environment encouraged different styles of thinking. This alternative thinking helped me make progress towards creating something akin to a pitch deck. Afterward, I went for another bike ride to channel my excess energy and am now planning my weekend, focusing on preparing for the upcoming week rather than working intensively.

I fulfilled my 2024 goal of deepening relationships tonight. I rode my bike looking for puddles to splash in after the rain, but found none. Instead, I had a rewarding conversation with Claire and Sam at Ichiban. This interaction was very satisfying.

Tonight at Jono's Pool Party 2024, I got to experience so many wonderful moments and tastes. We blended our favorite tunes for DJing, played water volleyball, and even indulged in hot tub ice cream. Rachel and I discussed future video plans, while Kennith's painting session added a creative flair. Heartfelt hugs with Ishmael, discovering Gabby's cool phone spot, savoring salmon skins with Arie, performing a backwards dive from the hot tub to the pool, and reflecting on life's challenges with a climbing analogy made the night unforgettable. The feast was just as memorable, featuring double portions of salmon, Chelsea's three-bean salad, Jono's garlic bread and homemade crackers, and a dessert extravaganza by Alexa including a passion fruit custard mixer, lemon bar dessert, and an intricate ice cream cake. The cheese wheel, Emily's drink bar with lavender lemonade and sangria, Vishal's refreshing blueberry lemonade and homemade mai tai, Meghan's quinoa salad, John's generous 100 lumpia contribution, and mouth-watering tacos with pickled onions wrapped up an evening filled with joy, creativity, and connections.

Pascal, from Brooklyn, is excited to engage with a new social network and a burrito he just tried. He's currently experiencing winter weather and has consumed a weed gummy before diving into work on the Tanaki app with multiplayer live video features. He plans to get a massage to unwind physically and mentally. Pascal hopes for a feature that enables connection with his audience to avoid feeling isolated and looks forward to interacting with others on the platform.

The speaker is reflecting on their experience with making audio burrito posts, noting that it often requires multiple attempts to get into the correct mindset—similar to drafting written posts. They're grappling with the challenge of monologuing without a clear understanding of the audience, as they are aware that at least John and CJ will hear it, but uncertainty about the wider audience affects their ability to communicate effectively. This creates a 'contextual membrane shakiness' as the speaker finds the lack of audience boundaries difficult to navigate, which they recognize may vary among different people. The speaker concludes by deciding to end the current note and start a new one.

The speaker conveys their frustration with a difficult fundraising experience, describing a particularly unsatisfactory video call with a fund representative. The caller was in a bad mood, hadn't reviewed the provided materials, and hesitated to engage with the product's features. This led to a tense exchange where the speaker challenged the representative's commitment to valuing founders versus purely focusing on financial metrics. Feeling disillusioned, the speaker is left with a distaste for these disengaged "NPCs" and remains focused on their vision of fostering creative and engaging spaces.
