Transcript: What's interesting is I checked my rain bucket and it's at four and a half inches. That's pretty wild. That's a lot of rain for San Diego.

It's raining heavily right now, and from what I can tell, it's rained up to two inches since last night based on my gallon bucket outside. Surprisingly, the school across the street seems to have released its students, and many kids are coming out despite it just being rain. I'm puzzled as to why they are sent home for rain when they are usually inside classrooms, protected from the weather. I'm amused by this situation especially since the school is quite new and unlikely to be flooding.
Today in San Diego is breathtakingly beautiful, with the perfect light and lush scenery, especially noticeable during a drive near the beach in the late afternoon. The beauty is heightened by the sense of well-being from exercising, making every detail vibrant and deeply appreciated.
After initially hesitating due to poor conditions seen on the cams, the speaker decided to go surfing at Sunset Cliffs and ended up having a great day with good waves and few people. They were pleased with their decision as they experienced perfect offshore winds and a low tide. The speaker had fun meeting people, including someone named Chris playing reggae from a van, and also saw a familiar face, Brian. Despite the speaker's phone frequently stopping during voice memo recordings, their morning was described as truly pleasant and enjoyable.

This morning, after sleeping in, I enjoyed a slow start, making eggs with shallots and riding my bike to Mnemonic for a unique and fantastic espresso. I spent around two hours at Mnemonic writing and thinking, followed by a bike ride to Tacos El Gordo before returning home. Back home, I experimented with purified water for coffee brewing and general health reasons, purchasing three gallons from OB Water to see if it makes a difference. I'm ending my day with plans to read "Positioning" and acknowledging that my to-do list will likely extend into the weekend.

This project serves as a reminder to be grateful, mostly because reflections revolve around things that bring happiness and gratitude, highlighting a positive default mindset. After a morning surf at Swami's with a longboard lent by Kyle, the experience was a mix of thrilling drops and spills, as well as an adjustment to the board's different feel and the technique required to maneuver it. The waves at Swami's were mellow enough to encourage trying without much fear, making the session enjoyable despite a few wipeouts. Despite the stormy conditions with wind and rain, the day turned out better than expected, providing mediocre to good waves for surfing, making it a pleasantly surprising day.

I fulfilled my 2024 goal of deepening relationships tonight. I rode my bike looking for puddles to splash in after the rain, but found none. Instead, I had a rewarding conversation with Claire and Sam at Ichiban. This interaction was very satisfying.
