Transcript: I just got off the phone with Matt, and it was a really nice conversation. Just immediately connected. He asked really good questions, I really appreciate that. He gave me a lot of time to speak, and that was really nice. I want to ask him more questions next time. He's just really excellent at it, and got me going. And it seemed like whatever I was talking about with my pipeline seems to resonate with him in terms of experimental testbed. And that is really cool to hear that he's like, let me know how it's going, and yeah, I will. And I'm excited to even hear that feedback of like, yeah, someone else might want to use this, and like, what are the right interfaces, and I'm happy to give it to someone and show them how to use it and how to deploy it. And maybe that's something that I need to, you know, think about more seriously of like, here's how you spin one of these up for yourself. Maybe here's a Docker instance of it, let's see, I don't know. But that might be something worthwhile to do, and yeah. Because like, so far, it's like remarkably stable, too. Not that crazy of a thing. But yeah. Maybe that's even the pitch. It's like, this is a testbed right now, and it's built by developers for developers to figure out what are the right ways to build their AI application. It's not like, because it's not deterministic, like, you can only know so much about your problem until you actually do it. And making experimentation really fast. So yeah, thinking about that, and probably how a module system works, like, more seriously. How do you add steps to the pipeline? How do you expose kind of the output type very easily for someone to be able to modify, or something? Yeah, maybe putting out a pipeline library, that's really simple. I think earlier I had mentioned some improvements to the pipeline system, and I believe it was probably that the output just needs to be in a format that's going to be appended to the overall object in some way. And figuring out the best way to do that. And then, yeah. I mean, I need to think about it more. But it was a really great conversation. I really appreciated everything about it. And I'm excited to talk with him again, probably in a couple weeks, probably in two weeks, and see where things are. Again, I would love to be able to, say, chat with him in two weeks, and get a reminder and a text message. About two weeks. I don't want to set a reminder. So maybe that's a little thing that I'll build in, or something. We'll see. I would like to keep it small and modular. And that is going to start going into not very small and modular, but an opinionated thing. So we'll see. Like, that's stepping outside of testbed. But maybe it's something to implement, actually. So yeah, really, really, really nice talking to Matt.

I had a productive call with Jamie, during which we discussed my ideas and strategies for effectively pitching them. Jamie gave me tips on improving user experience and the importance of showing a polished concept over a rudimentary but functional prototype. We touched on the balance between immediate buildable aspects and long-term vision, emphasizing the importance of clarity in communicating how short-term plans align with the long-term future. I am grateful for Jamie's encouragement and advice, and I'm looking forward to possibly working with friends like Austin to further explore and demonstrate the potential of my ideas.
During a 40-minute call with Tom from Hyperflow, I found the time constraint useful for staying focused and direct. We discussed the concept of searching for a co-founder and our main topic was Burrito. Tom displayed a strong grasp of the current environment, which I found impressive. I am eager to have another conversation to explore any potential concrete products or outcomes that may emerge.
I had a profound two-hour call with Jordan at 9 a.m., discussing a range of topics including the exciting potential of language models, which he called "word calculators." Jordan and I agreed on the importance of solidifying a good intention to create a compelling demo that deeply explores the vision of our project. We also touched on self-expression and the value of using the platform as a "playground" to honestly express oneself without worrying about the audience. Lastly, we delved into the dynamic nature of intentions and how they evolve over time, along with the idea that AI could support individuals by acting as an executive function override during moments of weakness.

The call with Dave was fantastic, offering a chance to catch up and discuss numerous ideas and possibilities. The overlap in their thinking was clear, and there was a need to condense these thoughts into something more tangible. Much of this is being documented on paper, as it seems easier to process than keeping it all in their head. The speaker expresses gratitude and enjoyment from having such conversations.
I had several engaging phone calls with friends like Cody and John, discussing various topics and working through ideas. Cody asked insightful questions and I shared my thoughts extensively, which led to valuable discussions on content creation, including framing and writing blog posts. I am motivated to keep producing and sharing content regularly, even simple daily updates, as part of prioritizing my efforts. Overall, I'm grateful for the conversations, the reminders of aiming to make tech accessible to everyone, and for the support in planning future building and expressing the essence of my work.

After a hike, I encountered Steph, leading to ongoing communication about hosting events. We discussed her co-organized salon on the AI alignment problem in March and my interest in hosting a website-building event during startup week, potentially in April or May. We also contemplated a tool for managing our projects and events, like a specialized project management software. Further, we talked about the connection between online communities and the physical gatherings they can inspire, emphasizing the cyclical relationship between the two.

The speaker conveys their frustration with a difficult fundraising experience, describing a particularly unsatisfactory video call with a fund representative. The caller was in a bad mood, hadn't reviewed the provided materials, and hesitated to engage with the product's features. This led to a tense exchange where the speaker challenged the representative's commitment to valuing founders versus purely focusing on financial metrics. Feeling disillusioned, the speaker is left with a distaste for these disengaged "NPCs" and remains focused on their vision of fostering creative and engaging spaces.

A shared 'brain' is being discussed as a platform for asynchronous voice note conversations where metadata could enhance understanding and visualization of conversational threads. The speaker suggests a focus on DEMO rather than DEC as a fork in the road, believing it better suits the work they've been doing with building prototypes. A group experiment is proposed with four members to delve into how these voice notes can overlap and interconnect, with the idea of marking chapters within responses to clarify dialogue. The concept also touches on the nuances of information retrieval, preferring vector databases over direct text searches, hinting at a similarity to the speaker's initial voice note exchanges with Savannah after meeting on a dating app. Voice communication offers significant advantages as a medium, and there's an idea presented here that its power should extend beyond just live conversations. Current messaging apps are filled with voice notes that are often difficult to search, filter, or respond to, though iMessage now has transcripts, which are generally reliable and useful once you've listened to the original voice note. The ability to refer back to transcribed voice notes can aid in crafting thoughtful responses and engaging in more meaningful discussions. The sender of the message suggests that by embracing this approach to communication, we could enhance our conversations and is curious to see how it will develop.

The speaker did not complete their weekly review, which usually provides clarity and insights for the upcoming week. Despite this, they have many projects, personal life commitments, and community efforts to attend to, not to mention taxes. They plan to set week intentions using voice instead of writing, including the exploration of websites for the Diagram Website Explorers Club and developing a Canvas element-based editor for Daily Jam. The technical aspects of this project involve real-time data updates, efficient pixel manipulation, and secure user authentication through tokenization. A function is set to run every five seconds to update the canvas with the latest pixel data, ensuring all viewers see a consistent image while minimizing performance impacts. Other tasks include preparing tax paperwork, organizing Boulder events for systems and AI, and sketching ideas for a project called "co-net." The intention is to spend more time outdoors in the nice weather and to schedule the next "Site Craft Hang," while thinking about potential content for the "Explorers Club" website. Overall, it's a productive Monday morning with good weather contributing to a positive start to the week.

The speaker describes their experience of partially understanding a podcast, particularly a term "Socratic search space," while on a walk and expresses a desire to delve deeper into its meaning. They prefer an interactive approach where they can ask a device to provide references and contextual explanations, as opposed to receiving a summary generated by an AI model like GPT, which might lack the most recent uses of the term. They are skeptical about the capability of language models to provide a comprehensive understanding, given that they might not recognize terms with minimal occurrences in training data. The speaker envisions a system that could compile and present relevant information in a coherent way, enhancing their grasp of the podcast's content and making the learning process more meaningful.
