"Breakfast Tacos, Surfing, and Reflection at Del Mar"

Jan 31, 2024 - 10:23amSummary: I enjoyed making breakfast tacos and surfing at Del Mar with Chandler, appreciating both the company and the activity after a long hiatus. The waves were relatively mellow at four to five feet, contributing to a serene surfing experience. The day brought a refreshing change of pace, focusing on writing and reflection rather than my usual building activities. Overall, it was a good and relaxed start to the morning with contemplation as the primary agenda for the day.

Transcript: Just finished cooking some breakfast tacos. Nice breakfast. And got back from a surf session with Chandler at Del Mar and it was nice, it was so great to see him. I mean, it was great to see him and it was also great to just be out there surfing with him again. It's been a long time, it's been a really long time. So just having that kind of morning and being out there and just getting to have fun, it's great. And the waves today, compared to anything that I've been surfing, is just so mellow. And not to say that it wasn't big, it was still like four or five foot. But yeah, it just felt like a mellow day. Have fun with a friend, have fun with Chandler. And that was, it was really nice. Just refreshing and a different pace to things. So yeah, good start to the morning. I think today probably focusing a bit less on building things and just writing, reflecting and getting things out there. We'll see, maybe I end up building things still. But I think it'll be pretty relaxed. I think mostly thinking today.

After a morning surf at Swami's with a longboard lent by Kyle, the experience was a mix of thrilling drops and spills, as well as an adjustment to the board's different feel and the technique required to maneuver it. The waves at Swami's were mellow enough to encourage trying without much fear, making the session enjoyable despite a few wipeouts. Despite the stormy conditions with wind and rain, the day turned out better than expected, providing mediocre to good waves for surfing, making it a pleasantly surprising day.
