"Connection, Impact, and Motivation"

Mar 10, 2024 - 8:14pmSummary: Today, I had a delightful hour-long chat with Alex, catching up on things, which I found really nice. I'm looking forward to recording this in a private journal. Additionally, I shared an app link with Darren, and he's already described it as life-changing. His feedback made me incredibly happy, knowing something I created in just a few hours could have such a significant impact on him. This success feels deeply meaningful, yet I believe the app can be greatly improved. Despite its current success, I'm motivated to enhance it further for Darren.

Transcript: I don't know if I mentioned it, but I also had a call with Alex today and we talked for about an hour and that was really nice to catch up with him. I'd love to diary this in a private version soon. But the other thing is I sent Darren the app link and he already told me it is completely life changing. And holy shit, I am so happy to hear that. I'm just so glad I could bring something that took me a handful of hours to build to him and have it change his life. That is so meaningful. It's ridiculous. And I, you know, for me, I just think it's not good enough. Personally, I know how much better it can be. So I'm excited to make it better for him. And yeah. Yeah.

I had a productive call with Jamie, during which we discussed my ideas and strategies for effectively pitching them. Jamie gave me tips on improving user experience and the importance of showing a polished concept over a rudimentary but functional prototype. We touched on the balance between immediate buildable aspects and long-term vision, emphasizing the importance of clarity in communicating how short-term plans align with the long-term future. I am grateful for Jamie's encouragement and advice, and I'm looking forward to possibly working with friends like Austin to further explore and demonstrate the potential of my ideas.

Productive Day and Tomorrow's Plans

Today was genuinely good. I enjoyed a brief outing, had a catching-up call with Katie, and worked on getting an app ready for Darren, which I'm hopeful he'll find useful. It's sparked a desire in me to develop a more robust infrastructure, something I see as entirely feasible. Planning for tomorrow, I want to integrate a design from Jordan into my work and, if possible, continue enhancing the app for Darren, focusing on stronger infrastructure and deploying it to a stable, cost-effective, or free hosting service, potentially something like serverless Postgres. Dinner was light, just almonds and some couscous, not quite a meal. After a productive day, I'm feeling pretty exhausted and foresee just watching a YouTube video before bed. I'm looking forward to driving up for coffee tomorrow morning, though I need to check my car's charge for the trip to Encinitas and also plan to do some grocery shopping. I aim to start the day early, enjoy an espresso, buy some beans, perhaps a pastry, and then see where the day takes me. I'm debating between taking my laptop and opting to journal instead, leaning towards the latter to give myself a chance to reflect and process my thoughts. So, that's the roundup of today and the look-ahead for tomorrow.

"Enlightening Conversation"

The call with Dave was fantastic, offering a chance to catch up and discuss numerous ideas and possibilities. The overlap in their thinking was clear, and there was a need to condense these thoughts into something more tangible. Much of this is being documented on paper, as it seems easier to process than keeping it all in their head. The speaker expresses gratitude and enjoyment from having such conversations.

"Empowering Conversations: Navigating Intentions and Tech Solutions"

I had a beneficial conversation with John, who helped me work through my thoughts and appreciated his support in allowing me to talk things out. We discussed building a simple intention website that John sketched, considering the addition of GPS functionality due to its importance for intention-based actions, and the possibility of an AI assisting with small tasks based on one's intentions. Despite my aversion to login pages, John made me realize it's acceptable to ask for passwords on a website, and that a solution to eliminate logins can be addressed later. This talk has energized me for the week, and I'm excited about working on this intention website project, hopeful about committing to it longer term, and grateful for the sense of direction it provides.

"Exploring the Potential of Language Models and Self-Expression"

I had a profound two-hour call with Jordan at 9 a.m., discussing a range of topics including the exciting potential of language models, which he called "word calculators." Jordan and I agreed on the importance of solidifying a good intention to create a compelling demo that deeply explores the vision of our project. We also touched on self-expression and the value of using the platform as a "playground" to honestly express oneself without worrying about the audience. Lastly, we delved into the dynamic nature of intentions and how they evolve over time, along with the idea that AI could support individuals by acting as an executive function override during moments of weakness.
