A Productive Day

Mar 7, 2024 - 6:09pmSummary: Today was quite eventful for me. It started off with a peaceful morning where I enjoyed coffee and eggs; I love waking up naturally. My work focused on making various installations easier to manage in a private version of Burrito, aiming for smoother access and queries - a slow but steady process. Apart from work, I engaged in several conversations and calls throughout the day. My first discussion was with Nick, pondering over the potential of starting a company related to a hotel concept we thought of. It's an idea I need to dwell on more tonight. Lunch was home-cooked ramen, a comforting choice. Catching up with John over a call was refreshing; we discussed meeting in person soon. Then there was the OKPC call, where financial updates were a key topic. My day ended on a high note with an excellent climbing session with Patrick. It's been a productive and fulfilling day.

Transcript: I think a lot of things have kind of happened today, which is cool. Wow, the San Diego River is so full. Yeah, a couple things happened today. I started off the morning and I had coffee and eggs. And I kind of woke up naturally for the most part, which is cool. And I started working on, well, what it would be like in the UI at the very moment to just be able to install a bunch of different things. And hopefully working that towards something for a private version of Burrito that makes things more easily queryable, accessible to everyone. Slowly, slowly, slowly. So, yeah, that's kind of the approach to do. And I'm excited. And I also had a lot of other conversations and calls today. Most of my day has been spent on calls or doing something. The first conversation I had was with Nick regarding, well, is there a company to be built for this hotel thing? It sounds like there is. I need to do more thinking about it. Ideally, tonight. And, yeah, I need to reflect on that a bit. So I'll do that. And then I also had some ramen at home for lunch. And then I had a call with John. And it was nice to just catch up with John and shoot the shit about a lot of things. Kind of want to see him in person soon. That would be really nice. And then we had the OKPC call. Caught up on that. Caught up on money. And, yeah, that's that. And then I just went to climb with Patrick and got done climbing. Super, super good session. More to say in a minute.

Today started off wonderfully, albeit a bit late due to daylight savings time. I was particularly excited about implementing Jordan's UI design into the project, going through a significant update to the entire user interface. The morning coffee, a special blend from Necessity in Encinitas that I tried for the first time, was exceptional with its distinct passion fruit notes. Following this delightful start, I went climbing with my friends Patrick and Kyle at Mission Gorge. We tackled several routes including "Empathy" on the main wall and "Skyline" among others, experiencing both challenges and successes throughout the day. It was a blend of leading and top roping various climbs, a fulfilling way to spend time with close ones. Post-climbing, I returned home to some household chores, including laundry, with plans to cook dinner and possibly program for a bit. However, relaxation seems more tempting as the evening progresses. It's 6:30 PM now, and the night might wind down with me enjoying a show or simply unwinding in anticipation of tomorrow. Although no activities are planned for the next day, considering the surf conditions, it might just turn into a surfing day if conditions at Swami's are favorable. A potential plan to surf with Chandler is also on the horizon, depending on how the morning tide looks.

I had a really nice day focused on improving and optimizing our API, dealing with various issues along the way. I managed to create and deploy Docker images, enhancing the overall performance and deployability of our system, which I'm quite excited and satisfied with. Despite it taking more time than anticipated and pushing back other projects, I'm optimistic about continuing this work. Additionally, I spent quality time with friends, preparing and enjoying meals together, which was a warming end to the day. Although feeling slightly under the weather, I'm hopeful for tomorrow and plan an early start for a highlining adventure, pending how I feel in the morning.

Productive Day and Tomorrow's Plans

Today was genuinely good. I enjoyed a brief outing, had a catching-up call with Katie, and worked on getting an app ready for Darren, which I'm hopeful he'll find useful. It's sparked a desire in me to develop a more robust infrastructure, something I see as entirely feasible. Planning for tomorrow, I want to integrate a design from Jordan into my work and, if possible, continue enhancing the app for Darren, focusing on stronger infrastructure and deploying it to a stable, cost-effective, or free hosting service, potentially something like serverless Postgres. Dinner was light, just almonds and some couscous, not quite a meal. After a productive day, I'm feeling pretty exhausted and foresee just watching a YouTube video before bed. I'm looking forward to driving up for coffee tomorrow morning, though I need to check my car's charge for the trip to Encinitas and also plan to do some grocery shopping. I aim to start the day early, enjoy an espresso, buy some beans, perhaps a pastry, and then see where the day takes me. I'm debating between taking my laptop and opting to journal instead, leaning towards the latter to give myself a chance to reflect and process my thoughts. So, that's the roundup of today and the look-ahead for tomorrow.

Today was eventful with a pleasant dinner party I hosted for Caroline, Patrick, and Kyle, reuniting this group for the first time in two years. The evening was filled with meaningful conversations, vulnerability, and appreciation for the company. I also visited Nick to help with their business spreadsheets, exploring potential additional income. Tomorrow's plans include a bike ride to Mnemonic to spend time writing and reflecting on recent discussions, fueled by energy and an espresso.
