"An Energetic Day of Milestones and Culinary Delights"

Mar 12, 2024 - 8:12pmSummary: Today was an incredibly energetic and successful day for me. I maintained high energy levels throughout, even though I experienced a slight dip in the afternoon. The highlight was bringing the Mac mini network to life, which now runs a real machine learning model on commodity hardware capable of serving a production-grade API. This milestone makes me extremely excited and marks a significant achievement in the stability and capability of our API. Additionally, I cooked a delicious spinach, garlic, and butter pasta for lunch, with plenty left over for future meals. I also have enough chicken and couscous for another meal, ensuring a tasty week ahead. In the evening, I enjoyed outdoor activities, including riding my bike and slacklining with my friend Ryan in the park. Following this, I had a productive call with Dave and concluded my day with a simple dinner. As the day comes to an end, I plan to meditate and sort out my climbing gear, though I might skip showering since I'll be surfing tomorrow. A bit of kitchen cleanup is also on my to-do list, but overall, I feel immensely satisfied with how the day unfolded. Now, it's time to wind down, embrace the feeling of tiredness, and allow myself to take a much-deserved break.

Transcript: One of those, another one of those days where like the energy just keeps continuing through the day, um, without stop. Like it's, it's not like my energy really hasn't dipped that much today. Um, maybe in the afternoon for a bit, but man, solid, solid day. Just like woke up, got to work. Um, you know, dude, we brought the Mac mini network to life today. It actually exists now, you know, like we're running a real machine learning model on our commodity hardware that can serve effectively a production grade API. I think the base base level of a production grade API. That's, that's pretty remarkable. I think I'm, I'm really, really stoked about that. Um, yeah, that's so cool. That is so cool. Um, and just generally got the API, like feeling better, more stable, still some things to do, but like on the whole, I feel much better about this, like compared to my machine being the only machine that, that is running. Um, yeah, super, super, super exciting. I think, um, yeah, yeah. Just so, so ridiculously. Exciting. Um, so obviously that's super great. Um, and I made lunch today. I made some pasta and spinach, um, spinach pasta, spinach, garlic, pasta, spinach, garlic, butter pasta. Um, that's what I had for lunch. And that was nice. Uh, I have a bunch of it. So, um, I'm going to be eating some pasta. I'm going to be eating some chicken. I'm going to be eating some pasta. I'm going to be eating some chicken. I'm going to be eating some pasta. I'm going to be eating some pasta. I'm going to be eating some pasta. I'm going to be eating some pasta. I'm going to be eating some pasta. I'm going to be eating some pasta. I'm going to be eating some pasta. I'm going to be eating some pasta. Continue to be good meals this week. I still have some chicken. Um, so that's great. I have one more meal of chicken and couscous. Plus maybe a bit of pasta. I just throw it all together. Um, we'll see. So that's, that's great. And then for dinner, yeah, I had chicken and all of this stuff and great. Um, fantastic day. Um, worked and did this stuff, rode my bike over to the park and slack lined with Ryan. We set up a really sick slack line today. Um, super dope. And we ended up doing that for about an hour, hour and a half and rode my bike home. Got on a call with Dave, had a great call. Dave, just ate dinner. yeah, really, really fantastic day. Honestly. Um, I'm going to take some time, I think, um, shortly here and meditate. Um, I am going to put away my highlining gear, climbing gear, um, and then meditate. I also need a shower. I am going to surf tomorrow, but I really need to shower. Uh, I don't know. It doesn't make sense if I'm going to surf tomorrow. Um, yeah, so I guess I'll probably just surf tomorrow and not shower. Um, I also probably need to finish cleaning up my kitchen, but yeah, I think really, really, really, really, really solid day. Um, yeah, I'm tired. Letting myself wind down now. Maybe that's what it is. Letting myself wind down. It's okay. Okay, I'm slow down. Cool. I'm going to take a break. I'm going to take a break. I'm going to take a break. I'm going to take a break. I'm going to take a break. I'm going to take a break. I'm going to take a break. I'm going to take a break. I'm going to take a break. I'm going to take a break. I'm going to take a break. I'm going to take a break.

Yesterday was a pretty good and productive day for me. In the morning, I was at work, really diving deep into what's possible with the backend, especially focusing on modal and non-real-time transcriptions—successfully managing to make them work. I'm considering extending that setup to my local machine to ensure it optimally selects the best backend for serving content. I also thought about exploring Olama for similar functionalities but realized I might need to handle streaming code specifically. There's a part of me thinking about delving into `whisper.cpp` because I believe streaming support is achievable without excessive effort, though it might require some C++ handling. Enhancing Python and node bindings, especially making GGML usable like a tensor library in Python, is another aspect I’m looking into. Aside from work, I managed to meditate for 15 minutes, skipped breakfast but enjoyed beans and rice for lunch, and had Kyle, Claire, Kyle's dad, and Miri over for lunch and later for games, playing the crew, which was quite enjoyable. Claire brought dessert, and I made some pasta and chicken for dinner. My fascination with O1 or Open Interpreter continues, and I'm eager to explore more about it. For today, I'm considering going surfing if the situation allows, based on what I manage to accomplish in the morning and my energy levels through the day. I'm planning to start my day with meditation—trying it before my coffee—to see how that feels and take the day from there.

"An Energetic Afternoon: Productivity and Creativity Fueled by Change of Environment"

I had an energetic afternoon which started with a bike ride to an unnamed café near the university for espresso. Spending time mostly outdoors, I worked with two notebooks and my iPad, realizing that the lack of a traditional computer and a change of environment encouraged different styles of thinking. This alternative thinking helped me make progress towards creating something akin to a pitch deck. Afterward, I went for another bike ride to channel my excess energy and am now planning my weekend, focusing on preparing for the upcoming week rather than working intensively.

I had a relaxing day but I'm looking forward to starting work tomorrow, feeling rejuvenated and eager to dive into my tasks. Although I enjoyed my downtime, by evening I was ready to be productive again. My plans include making a dashboard live, getting feedback, and building new UI components, acknowledging that these projects will take time. For the rest of the evening, I plan to relax after having chicken and asparagus for dinner, and I might do some shopping tomorrow or possibly wait until Wednesday.

Today's been a good day overall. It's now 6:30 PM, and I'm set to make dinner, having skipped lunch and snacked on peanut butter pretzels from Costco instead. Workwise, I managed to organize all my projects, using Basecamp as a tool, though I'm still assessing its effectiveness for my needs. I also progressed with Darren's app to a new version and developed a bit more of a dashboard for a wedding project with John, despite its uncertain future. The planning aspect of my work gives me the most satisfaction. Tomorrow, I'm eager to dive into the "Burrito" project, exploring Jordan's design and considering which modules to add. I'll experiment with labeling features in private mode to see if they add value. Although labeling everything is cumbersome, it could ultimately be worthwhile. I spent about four hours on computer and programming tasks, which felt okay but somewhat less than ideal. Tonight, I plan to relax, cook steak and a salad for dinner, possibly adding an egg cooked in the steak juices. After an enjoyable bike ride post-call with John, I'm winding down from what I consider a pretty solid day.

Productive Day and Tomorrow's Plans

Today was genuinely good. I enjoyed a brief outing, had a catching-up call with Katie, and worked on getting an app ready for Darren, which I'm hopeful he'll find useful. It's sparked a desire in me to develop a more robust infrastructure, something I see as entirely feasible. Planning for tomorrow, I want to integrate a design from Jordan into my work and, if possible, continue enhancing the app for Darren, focusing on stronger infrastructure and deploying it to a stable, cost-effective, or free hosting service, potentially something like serverless Postgres. Dinner was light, just almonds and some couscous, not quite a meal. After a productive day, I'm feeling pretty exhausted and foresee just watching a YouTube video before bed. I'm looking forward to driving up for coffee tomorrow morning, though I need to check my car's charge for the trip to Encinitas and also plan to do some grocery shopping. I aim to start the day early, enjoy an espresso, buy some beans, perhaps a pastry, and then see where the day takes me. I'm debating between taking my laptop and opting to journal instead, leaning towards the latter to give myself a chance to reflect and process my thoughts. So, that's the roundup of today and the look-ahead for tomorrow.
