Transcript: another good day it's interesting as I do more things out in the real world I put in more things to the burrito which makes sense because that's probably what it was designed for and also maybe the fact is that I'm really excited about some of this API stuff and just getting latency really low on text-to-speech for me it's just been an interesting project and process and also maybe in doing so it can help some people and I can serve something that's good useful to people that would be really cool if it is, fantastic and if it's not, I mean it's fine from the napkin math if it was $5 for a million characters that could be up to $10,000 a month right now if we had our Mac mini network at full capacity so that's not bad especially given the amount of compute involved is not that much so yeah, yeah I mean it's just like a curious thing we'll have to see kind of where this goes I mean if Jordan is willing to get his other computer online that'd be really great today I did not slackline I did not go outside really and I don't know what's going to be tomorrow hopefully I'll at least go for a bike ride to the grocery store for dinner I had tacos at La Vie en Rose with Kyle, his mom, Claire, Zach, and Mike and that was good for lunch I really just snacked and for breakfast I had eggs the onions from Kim and I had paratha as well but overall good day I'm really excited about tomorrow and like probably just like getting into work and hopefully just maybe by like 2pm or 3pm having everything more or less done and by everything I mean well ideally production API that would be good for me that would be great ideally yeah I don't know there's so many possibilities I would say but yeah if production API works that would be great we certainly need to handle large amounts of concurrency and we'll have to see what that seems like on the fly.io side but in terms of limiting it I'm pretty confident that like throwing the bottleneck in front of the API will at least help us slow down requests and then I can add fly hopefully to the pool as well by exposing a service and if I can do that and I can clean up the API and just make sure that I have a good time with it and I can do that and I can clean up the API and just make that nice and clean and simple clean all the Piper stuff out of there the Piper CLI stuff clean up the Docker image ship the Docker image you know like these are all the things that like just need to focus in and hone in and we'll make the system better and we'll just see how it goes from there
I had a really nice day focused on improving and optimizing our API, dealing with various issues along the way. I managed to create and deploy Docker images, enhancing the overall performance and deployability of our system, which I'm quite excited and satisfied with. Despite it taking more time than anticipated and pushing back other projects, I'm optimistic about continuing this work. Additionally, I spent quality time with friends, preparing and enjoying meals together, which was a warming end to the day. Although feeling slightly under the weather, I'm hopeful for tomorrow and plan an early start for a highlining adventure, pending how I feel in the morning.
Feeling exhausted but content, the speaker reflects on their constant work and aspirations to improve processes, like making John's burrito preparation faster. They acknowledge that their current project may have flaws, but see potential for it to be a dynamic back-end platform with multiple uses. The speaker expresses a desire to create something novel and valuable, while also fostering a space for both public and private sharing. Amidst these professional goals, they cherish personal connections, such as a satisfying morning of surfing with friends.
I finished making breakfast tacos and have a day planned with reading, meditation, and possibly writing. My focus for the day is improving the main burrito website to make it interactive and pondering the challenge of making it easily deployable for others without the pain of maintaining a separate instance. I'm contemplating whether to maintain the existing system or create a new one, maybe using Docker to bundle the components. The decision is complicated due to the unique architecture of building decentralized applications and requires further thought.
Yesterday was a pretty good and productive day for me. In the morning, I was at work, really diving deep into what's possible with the backend, especially focusing on modal and non-real-time transcriptions—successfully managing to make them work. I'm considering extending that setup to my local machine to ensure it optimally selects the best backend for serving content. I also thought about exploring Olama for similar functionalities but realized I might need to handle streaming code specifically. There's a part of me thinking about delving into `whisper.cpp` because I believe streaming support is achievable without excessive effort, though it might require some C++ handling. Enhancing Python and node bindings, especially making GGML usable like a tensor library in Python, is another aspect I’m looking into. Aside from work, I managed to meditate for 15 minutes, skipped breakfast but enjoyed beans and rice for lunch, and had Kyle, Claire, Kyle's dad, and Miri over for lunch and later for games, playing the crew, which was quite enjoyable. Claire brought dessert, and I made some pasta and chicken for dinner. My fascination with O1 or Open Interpreter continues, and I'm eager to explore more about it. For today, I'm considering going surfing if the situation allows, based on what I manage to accomplish in the morning and my energy levels through the day. I'm planning to start my day with meditation—trying it before my coffee—to see how that feels and take the day from there.

The speaker is excited about tomorrow but acknowledges that as a developer facing new challenges, the work is not trivial, especially given the lack of extensive documentation and the solitary nature of their current work process. They express a desire to share their learnings, possibly by writing them down, and emphasize the importance of collaboration, suggesting that "if we do this together, it will be a better world." The speaker is tired of creating misleadingly impressive demos and aims to write code and interact with large language models in a more genuine and transparent way. Lastly, they recognize the complexity of building an effective agential system, admitting their current limitations while believing in its importance, and they present open questions about processing and connecting large amounts of data to better understand who we are.

The author contemplates the process of converting an audio note into a transcript, then summarizing it on their "burrito" page. They express a desire to adjust the summarization voice to better represent themselves on the page. Recognizing that this feature may not have widespread appeal, the author nonetheless sees value in providing users with controls to personalize their "burrito." The concept of allowing users to fine-tune their experience is seen as an intriguing possibility.

The speaker is reflecting on their experience with making audio burrito posts, noting that it often requires multiple attempts to get into the correct mindset—similar to drafting written posts. They're grappling with the challenge of monologuing without a clear understanding of the audience, as they are aware that at least John and CJ will hear it, but uncertainty about the wider audience affects their ability to communicate effectively. This creates a 'contextual membrane shakiness' as the speaker finds the lack of audience boundaries difficult to navigate, which they recognize may vary among different people. The speaker concludes by deciding to end the current note and start a new one.

Pascal, from Brooklyn, is excited to engage with a new social network and a burrito he just tried. He's currently experiencing winter weather and has consumed a weed gummy before diving into work on the Tanaki app with multiplayer live video features. He plans to get a massage to unwind physically and mentally. Pascal hopes for a feature that enables connection with his audience to avoid feeling isolated and looks forward to interacting with others on the platform.

Welcome to my burrito place! I'm testing out CJ's new gadget and hoping it captures my thoughts accurately despite my struggle with stream-of-consciousness voice notes. My goal is to document my food discoveries in London and eventually identify and share my favorite spots. Enjoy your visit and the food recommendations that will follow!
