Comment: Bolting gear to remember
Transcript: A few notes on things to bring for bolting. Things to remember to bring. Definitely long gloves if we're doing glue-ins. Definitely plenty of plastic bags. Super important, plenty of plastic bags. Hammer, drill, batteries, bolts, rangefinder, rangefinder, rangefinder, rangefinder. Really help to just know how level it is, the distance, these kind of things. Let's see. Stoke. I'll add more if I come up with more, but so far this is like, I think a pretty solid basic list of just like, don't forget this. Eye protection. Eye protection would be good. And mask. Some kind of like, mask. Honestly, probably like a proper mask. You know, the ones that we used for surfing and surfboard shaping and that kind of shit. That's really what we should be using. Most people probably won't do that. I have one, so probably should just use it.

This morning, I started learning the basics of bolting for highlining and climbing, including the necessary tools and materials. I realized the importance of acquiring these skills as there are suitable places to bolt, and I'm eager to progress in this direction. In addition to bolting, I finished knitting a pink sweater and am planning to print out a pattern for Chandler's sweater to work on next. While I have other tasks and thoughts to organize, I'm focusing on simpler activities until Caroline arrives, as my weekend plans don't require immediate attention but any progress would be beneficial.

Today I had my first experience solo rigging both a highline and a midline, which ended up being quite enjoyable, though the rigging process was lengthy. I managed to take 16 steps on the line and felt surprisingly stable, almost as if I were walking in a park, due to the absence of exposure. After several short but solid sessions on the line, which felt comfortable and stable, I prepared for what I expected to be a smooth de-rigging process. Additionally, I had engaging conversations with Kevin, a visitor who shared some pictures and introduced me to his dog, as well as with Johnny, a 70-year-old iron-working company owner, who imparted wisdom on community service, the value of hard work, and finding happiness in simplicity. The individual recounts their experience with slacklining, including the challenges of tensioning the line and releasing it without assistance. They express a desire to improve their slacklining skills and emphasize the significance of access to suitable locations for practice. The optimism about slacklining becoming more normalized and the joy it brings to both participants and observers is also conveyed. Additionally, the speaker indicates a need to learn more about proper techniques, such as the best way to tie off the line, and finds instructional videos inadequate for this purpose. The speaker emphasizes the importance of skill, speed, and safety in rigging, particularly in tying techniques. They express confidence in their work, suggesting that the most recent task they completed looks pretty good. The plan is to carry the line back and then stop the recording after a successful highline and midline session. The speaker also appreciates the social aspect of their activity, mentioning that it's cool to meet people.

Yesterday, I visited Kyle to borrow a longboard because mine is broken, and I am very grateful for his generosity. I'm excited to ride the board, but I've noticed it needs additional wax. Soon, I'll need to visit a surf shop to purchase more wax, as I'm almost out and wax is essential for the board. Ensuring I have enough wax is definitely on my to-do list.

After driving to Ocean Beach (OB) to surf, I realized I forgot a towel and started debating whether to go into the water, especially since I didn't bring my longboard to Sunset Cliffs. Despite the amazing waves, I'm leaning toward going back home and possibly surfing later if I still feel like it. I contemplated borrowing a longboard from Kyle and patching it up for future use. Meanwhile, I had a pleasant encounter with Brian at Sunset Cliffs, and we caught up briefly, which was a highlight of the morning.
