"Exciting Weekend: Crafting Three Garments and Exploring Fabrics"

Jan 21, 2024 - 9:25pmSummary: The person is excited about completing three garments over the weekend, including one they started and finished in less than four hours, even while cooking dinner. They are proud of the outcome, acknowledging it's not perfect but are still quite pleased with the workmanship, especially since it went from raw fabric to wearable clothing so quickly. The newly made garment is warm, and they consider adding thumb holes or adjusting the sleeve length, as it's slightly long. They are curious about the fabric type, initially thinking it's Polartec Power Stretch Pro, but upon checking, they find it's Polartec Delta and ponder over its UV resistance.

Transcript: Wow, this is so great. I've made, well, finished three garments this weekend and more or less did two from scratch. And I started the one that I'm wearing currently at around 4 p.m. It's done, it's 9.20. I made dinner in between. So I went from fabric to garment in less than four hours, which, you know, isn't that fast, but it's pretty cool. Like, I'm wearing a thing that didn't, it just existed as fabric a minute ago. And I'm pretty stoked. Like, I think it looks really like quite good. It's not perfect, of course. Like, nothing I do right now is perfect. I wouldn't even say it's close to perfect, but damn, is it not bad, which is really, really cool. And yeah, like, looks good. Like, the neck needs a little bit of help, but more or less, like, it's something pretty decent. There's a couple flaws here and there, but yeah. I don't know. It's like a real, real garment. It could improve a few things, but like, for what it's worth, like, this is really wearable, super wearable, which is really cool. Yeah. So, I might, I'm like debating adding thumb holes to this, or yeah, I don't know. Just folding it up one more time and making the length a bit better, because the length is just a little bit long on the sleeves, but not bad. All right. So, it's pretty warm this thing, which is interesting. I need to figure out what fabric this is. Note that it's pretty warm. Yeah. I think it's Polartec Power Stretch Pro, I believe. Let's look. Polartec Delta. Interesting. I don't even know if this is UV resistant. I should find out.

Notable detailing includes a deliberately unfinished, frayed edge where the hood might be attached to a sweatshirt, exhibiting untrimmed threads hanging freely. Two parallel, wavy black stitch lines run down the middle, adding a touch of design to the otherwise solid-colored hood.

"Uncovering the Versatility of the Overlocker: Exploring Three-Thread Flatlock Stitch"

I've made an exciting discovery about my overlocker machine (Serger) - it can execute a three-thread flatlock stitch. This particular stitch is very suitable for making athletic wear, which is exactly the type of clothing I design. I noticed that Melanzano uses a distinctive exposed stitch with black thread that adds a contrasting detail, revealing the garment's construction. I'm eager to try this technique on some seams and plan to examine my Melanzano jacket to see where this stitching method is applied.
