"Riding the Waves and Shifting Gears: A Day at Sunset Clips"

Jan 1, 2025 - 3:26pmSummary: After surfing at Sunset Clips, the experience was mixed due to the windy and choppy conditions, making it challenging despite catching plenty of waves. The water was refreshing, and seeing Marvin briefly added to the experience. However, surf quality and personal performance were affected by the choppy and mushy waves. Losing the board a couple of times without a leash was minor and manageable. Overall, it was a pleasant time, and there's excitement for a planned mountain biking trip the next day.

Transcript: Oh, boy. Just got out of the water at Sunset Clips. You know, kind of what it seemed like from the report. It seemed windy. And, I mean, the waves were a decent size. But it was just choppy out there. It was kind of hard to surf. I mean, like, caught plenty of waves. That wasn't the problem. But it was nice to be in the water. Really refreshing to be in the water, for sure. Saw Marvin out there briefly. I mean, yeah, it's hard to beat just being in the water. But surf quality could have been better. I think I didn't have, like, I wasn't surfing too great myself. Like, maybe just because it was a little choppy and mushy. I had to be a bit more careful with what I was doing on my board without a leash, just so I didn't lose it. And I did lose it a couple times, but, like, very minorly. Like, you know, not a big deal. Like, a few paddle strokes and get where I need to go. So, but, yeah. I mean, pleasant out there. Excited to go mountain biking tomorrow. At least that's the plan. So, yeah. I mean, that's what's going on, you know.

I just finished surfing at Sunset Cliffs today. It was an average day with pretty slow surf. I'm planning to surf with Chandler tomorrow, but the waves are expected to be even smaller, so I'm anticipating it might not be the best day for surfing. Despite the possibility of challenging conditions, I'm still looking forward to being in the ocean. It's always a positive experience, very calm and mellow. Overall, I can't complain too much; it's nice to just be out there.

I just had an amazing surf session at Sunset Cliffs with really solid-sized waves ranging from four to eight feet. The conditions were pretty good, though the sets were inconsistent. When they did come, the waves were great. I spent an enjoyable hour and a half on my longboard and I'm glad I pushed myself to get out of bed and make it to the beach. Totally worth it and I'm feeling stoked. Planning to relax tomorrow, not sure about Friday, but Saturday is definitely going to be epic. I'm pumped for it.

The surf at Sunset Cliffs was unusually erratic today, possibly due to a mix of swells or low tide, though bigger waves and good size were still present. The break was primarily lefts, with the usual solid right closing out. Despite long waits between sets and a challenging surf, the session was still enjoyable and worth the effort.

Today I decided to surf at Sunset Cliffs, initially underwhelmed by the apparent poor surf conditions. However, once out in the water, the waves proved to be unexpectedly steep and challenging, making for an exciting session. I met a few surfers, including someone named Brian, all of us on shorter boards, catching waves and occasionally wiping out. Despite the struggles with some powerful sets and an intense paddling experience, I managed to catch a particularly large, thrilling wave, turning the session into a memorable one despite the ocean's humbling force.

Three people are standing in a car park near the ocean during what appears to be late afternoon, given the angle and warmth of the sunlight. The person in the foreground is wearing a black wetsuit with a hoodie and gloves, grinning widely at the camera, making a shaka sign with one hand. Another individual is partially visible behind them, sporting a wetsuit with the hood up, and giving a thumbs-up. The third person is facing away from the camera, half-dressed in a wetsuit, which is pulled down to the waist, revealing their bare back. There are two cars with open trunks in the background, one of which seems to be used for storing their gear. It looks like they have been participating in some water-related activity, possibly surfing, given their attire.
