"Bouldering Adventures: Challenges and Progress"

Jan 23, 2024 - 9:00amSummary: I went bouldering at Mira Mesa yesterday but faced an unexpected crowd due to school dismissal, making it difficult to park near my house for 20 minutes. Although I found the climbing only mediocre, feeling not as strong as usual, the climbs at Mira Mesa are harder compared to Mission Valley, which is beneficial for practice. Today, which is Tuesday, I'm planning to climb with Kyle, and we'll decide what to do next from there. Today's climbing session with Kyle is still tentative, but I'm looking forward to it as part of my routine.

Transcript: I went bouldering yesterday at Mira Mesa and upon coming back I mean I live across from a school. School was not out as it turns out I don't know why everyone was leaving around 9 but school was getting out and it was crowded and I couldn't even literally park at my house for at least 20 minutes. The climbing was mediocre. I mean it was good I just felt not very like strong I guess generally speaking but it was okay. I was getting like the the climbs at Mira Mesa are definitely I think harder than Mission Valley which is probably a good thing for practice so but yeah that was that was yesterday and today I think the plan is to climb with Kyle assuming assuming we can but I think that's the plan so that'll be good. Today is Tuesday so yeah and we will kind of go from there.

"Balancing Bouldering and Business: A Morning at Mesa Rim"

I had a 45-minute bouldering session at Mesa Rim, which started with a 20-minute warm-up and involved successfully flashing what seemed to be a soft V4 in the gym's cave area. Although there were harder V1s and V3s in the gym, flashing the V4 made me wonder if it might suit my climbing style or if the grading was too lenient. My morning's plan after climbing included writing, reading, meditating, finishing taxes, and reviewing last week's work to assess progress and learning. I'm considering how to document this process, potentially reaching out to a contact named Chris for further discussion.

After climbing with Kyle and Miriam and tackling the challenging STEMI 11, I experienced an intense workout for my hip flexors. In the morning, I updated Lava 1.6 and improved server support for it. I enjoyed leftover steak and potatoes for lunch. I'm undecided about dinner but plan to dine out.

"Reunited at the Climbing Gym: A Moderate Workout"

I reunited with Patrick at the climbing gym after a month apart, which provided a good opportunity to catch up and climb together. I enjoyed leading a few routes without pushing my limits, finding the moderate workout satisfying and noting the climb was not too challenging. I successfully tackled cracks and a route rated 11A or 11B, which reassured me of my climbing skills, contrasting with the less meaningful satisfaction I get from bouldering. Overall, the session was a moderate effort that was enjoyable, particularly because it allowed me to spend time with Patrick again.

"Surfing and Sips: A Morning at 7th Street"

Chandler and I enjoyed an okay morning surfing at 7th Street, tackling some fun four to six-foot waves. The beach was crowded with family, but we still had a good time. Afterward, we headed to Bird Rock for a croissant, a cortado, and a chat about my latest work on the demo, which got him excited. Left feeling good and looking forward to the next steps.

"Sunset Cliffs Surf: Stoked for Epic Waves"

I just had an amazing surf session at Sunset Cliffs with really solid-sized waves ranging from four to eight feet. The conditions were pretty good, though the sets were inconsistent. When they did come, the waves were great. I spent an enjoyable hour and a half on my longboard and I'm glad I pushed myself to get out of bed and make it to the beach. Totally worth it and I'm feeling stoked. Planning to relax tomorrow, not sure about Friday, but Saturday is definitely going to be epic. I'm pumped for it.
